Summer has officially arrived in New Zealand!
When I think of summer, I picture swimming at the beach, chasing waterfalls, hiking through native bush, going strawberry picking and visiting my favourite vineyards.
And for those simple days, relaxing by the pool with friends… eating delicious, fresh and healthy food of course, without having to leave your sun chair! Thanks to the Uber Eats app for making this possible!
Last weekend, the sun was shining and there was not a cloud in the sky, so we headed down to the pool. I opened the Uber Eats app on my phone, and was excited to discover one of the app’s newest eateries – Cali Press. Their aim is to create a fun and natural way of clean living, by serving healthy and delicious juices, smoothies, superfood breakfast bowls and wholesome meals. Sounded like the perfect breakfast to me!
We ordered two Superfood Breakfast Bowls, two Toast Bar – Toppers and the Ah-Sah-Ee (Acai) Smoothie.
The Superfood Breakfast Bowls are the perfect poolside breakfast – you can have a few mouthfuls, and then save the rest for later. We enjoyed The Signature Bowl with superfood granola, coconut yoghurt, coconut chia, seasonal bircher muesli, banana, strawberries, coconut, passionfruit and goji, which to me is the epitome of summer.
The De Coco Bowl with cacao buckinis, coconut yogurt, chia, banana, strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter and almonds also hit the spot.
On the more substantial side, Cali Press also serves toast by the slice, loaded with wholesome toppings or a choice of spreads. We loved their Avocado Toast, topped with tomato, vegan kale pesto, pumpkin seeds and lemon, served on organic rye sourdough bread. Or, if you are looking for something with more of a kick, then try the Salmon Smash – smoked salmon on an edamame and pea smash, with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkling of chilli flakes. Delicious.
Finally, the Ah-Sah-Ee (Acai) Smoothie with coconut water, acai, banana, mango and passionfruit was the perfect drink to end a healthy and delicious breakfast.
The meals from Cali Press arrived promptly, plus the food was fresh, well presented and delicious – it felt as though we were eating breakfast by a hotel pool in Bali, Fiji or some other tropical location.

If you enjoy spending your summer days not having to worry about what you are going to cook or having to venture across town to pick up your favourite meal, then Uber Eats is ideal. Delicious food delivered straight to your door, and in my case – only a few steps away from the pool. Simplicity at its best!
