2016 Foodie Highlights

2016 was a great foodie year! I tried new dishes (at Tiger Burger and Judge Bao), I tried a new food truck (Temaki Truck), there were many foodie events (Auckland Food Show, Taste of Auckland, Seafood Festival, Food Space, streetARTdego and Auckland Night Noodle Markets to name a few), my favourite dessert bar (Miann) opened a second branch and I travelled to many wonderful places (Sydney, Fiji, all around Spain, London, Dublin and Edinburgh). My favourites so far include their Bombe Alaska dessert, the 55% Itakuja gateaux with dark chocolate, passionfruit, coconut and lime (pictured above) and the peanut butter …

Borough Market, London

Borough Market = amazing!!! An absolute must if you are a foodie fanatic (like myself) or love trying out new foods! And if that doesn’t satisfy you, there is ethnic food available (for example from the ‘Soul Food’ and vegetarian Indian stands), super tasty pies (Pieminister), haloumi burgers (The Veggie Table), salted caramel doughnuts (Bread Ahead Bakery) and fresh juices and smoothies. While I would have loved to have tried one of everything, I was craving a pie. Pieminister were serving the most delicious array of pies, plus they use free range meat and chicken and have two vegetarian options. I went with the ‘Free Ranger’ consisting of chicken, ham hock, leek and thyme, while my sister ordered the ‘Classic Moo’ …

And the best thing about all this delicious food is that it is handmade onsite, fresh everyday. Bonus!!! This was by far the highlight of my London trip and I cannot wait to go back! Harrods Food Hall 87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London Open Monday to Saturday – 9am to 9pm, Sundays – 11.30am to 6pm Perfect for foodie lovers, celebrations/parties, afternoon tea Recommended: One of everything!!!
