American Express Restaurant Month: SOUL goes NOLA

Food lovers rejoice because American Express Restaurant Month is here! From 1-31 August, American Express Restaurant Month celebrates Auckland CBD’s diverse dining scene, offering 25 unique dining events and the chance to experience over 100 special menus, priced at $25, $40 and $55+. It is also a great opportunity to step outside the box and eat odd – try a food you wouldn’t normally eat and have a whole lot of fun doing it! Last Sunday, a friend and I were invited to dine at SOUL. In honor of Restaurant Month this year, SOUL goes NOLA! They have a limited edition menu which is inspired by the colours, textures, flavours and food trends of New Orleans! The SOUL goes NOLA menu will be available until 26 August for both lunch and dinner, for just $40 per person for a two-course meal or $50 including dessert. Queenstown Travel Diary

Last year, my older sister moved to Glenorchy, so we decided to spend Christmas and New Years in nearby Queenstown. I was super excited as it was my first time travelling to Queenstown and I couldn’t wait to experience all that it had to offer. I love that there are so many things to do in Queenstown, and that everyone is catered for, whether you are into adventure sports, being out on the water, tramping, trying new foods, keeping active or just relaxing by a beautiful lake (I especially loved Lake Wakatipu and Lake Wanaka). Fergburger – undoubtedly Queenstown’s most iconic foodie experience! However, be prepared to wait over an hour (or more) for your burger, but it is definitely worth it! Recommended: I loved the Bombay Chicken burger, washed down with a Speights beer 2. Patagonia Chocolates – I fell in love with this place while in Queenstown. Situated on the waterfront, they sell mouthwatering ice cream, desserts, hot and cold drinks, and of course, homemade chocolates. Definitely head to …

Burger Burger

Last weekend, two friends and I finally made it to Burger Burger (yes, it’s been long overdue!). It was packed when we arrived, but not surprising as I have only heard good things about the place. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait, but that was okay because we went to a nearby park (Brown Reserve), swung on swings and re-lived our childhood! Upon walking in, we first noticed the décor and surroundings – so much good looking liquor! Plus the colourful mural above the liquor, the pin-striped menus, and last but not least, the waiters’ uniforms and their cool “BB” caps – we all wanted one! Before I get to the food (most important thing in life), I must talk about the service. Absolutely top notch! Our waiter explained the menu thoroughly and gave great recommendations. He was super cool (and pretty cute too!). Now, for the food… My eyes were set on the Pork Burger – mainly because it came lathered with their homemade BBQ sauce (best thing ever), but after ordering, …
