Georgie’s Favourite Foods Party

Today I turned 26 – woohoo! Over the weekend, I celebrated my birthday. I usually spend the whole year planning it – previous years, I have had a ‘G Party’ where everyone came dressed as something starting with the letter ‘G’, a Hawaiian Luau, complete with a pineapple cake, pina coladas, and luau dancing etc, and last year I had a Mexican Fiesta… it was so much fun! Fast forward to this year, all I wanted to do was go out for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert. Seeing as it just wasn’t practical, I turned to my food blogger friends for advice. Thanks to Bri, she came up with the brilliant idea of holding a buffet style lunch at my house, featuring all my favourite foods. Introducing, Georgie’s Favourite Foods Party. I am forever grateful for the generous amount of food provided from some of my favourite eateries. Check out what we ate for lunch below, plus something fun we did (DIY ice cream bar), the CAKE, and a fun surprise for my …

AndSushi

Thanks to The Denizen, I was super excited when I read that a new sushi bar had just opened up in Newmarket. And even more so to find out that as well as serving modern style and creative sushi, a range of Japanese and Korean dishes were on the menu as well – my favourite cuisines! Plus an awesome beverage list – think Kokako cold brew coffee, Daily Organics kombucha and Cocoloco coconut water. Now, this sounded like my kind of place! Fast forward a few months where I have been frequenting &Sushi on the weekends, with the aim to try everything on their mouthwatering menu. So far, my favourites have definitely been their sushi – every piece is beautifully presented and has some surprising decorations, like edible flowers, wasabi creams and strawberry slices! Each roll is clearly marked with the ingredients and some of their sushi is vegan and vegetarian. Their purple rice sushi with cream cheese, salmon and topped with avocado and pink wasabi cream is a clear favourite, as well as the sushi pockets filled with perfectly chopped salmon and avocado pieces. Mama’s Buoi, Sydney

I came across Mama’s Buoi by chance when I was doing some last minute research looking for Vietnamese restaurants for our recent trip to Sydney. After reading countless blog reviews, I was determined to try Mama’s Buoi out! I must say it was quite a mission finding the restaurant, it is located on Devonshire Street in Surry Hills, so we assumed it would not be a long walk, but it actually took over an hour to get there from the CBD! But it was totally worth it – so happy to have found this gem! Mama’s Buoi serves Vietnamese home-style dishes ranging from Vietnamese grills, hot pots, soups, summer rolls and salads. They also serve beers, cocktails and a range of T2 teas (the lemon and ginger flavour is soothing and delicious). From the menu, we ordered the Goi cuon rice paper rolls with prawn and pork ($8 for two rolls, cut in half), the Lemongrass pork/pork spring rolls vermicelli noodle salad bowl ($14), the Coconut tamarind curry ($14) and the BBQ chicken slaw (also …
