I am in love with most of the Hip Group eateries, including Milse, The Store, Ortolana and Amano, so it is no surprise that I am now loving Rosie, a busy cafe and restaurant located near the Parnell Rose Gardens.
Rosie has been around for quite a while now (almost three years!), so I am a bit late to the party. Having just moved nearby, I thought it high time I check out this popular eatery. So far, I have really enjoyed their coffee, their specialty Valrhona house hot chocolate and more recently, their brunch fare.
Their food menu is European based, with all their produce either locally sourced or grown on the owners’ farm in Kumeu. Most of the dishes are not your usual brunch fare, so it is the perfect time to step outside the box and try something different. You will find dishes such as roast peach panacotta, smoked fish omelette, homemade crumpets, lamb and kumara sausage with poached egg, stuffed eggplant and chargrilled scampi.
We particularly enjoyed the following:
– Sprouted bread with smashed egg, courgette and capsicum salsa (lovely presentation and the flavours worked really well)
– Two poached eggs with sourdough toast and preserves (this is not actually on the menu, but we found out on the day that eggs any style can be ordered on request)
– Homemade crumpets with strawberry, white chocolate mousse and pistachios (if you have a sweet tooth, then I recommend this dish, but otherwise it is very, very, very indulgent. A bonus was that I left Rosie feeling happily full and in fact, wasn’t hungry until dinner time!)
But the star of their menu is surprisingly not a food dish, but their Chocolate & Coconut Smoothie. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! A fellow foodie recommended this lovely drink, and I am so glad she did. I think I may have found my new addiction! It was delicious and I loved the generous amount of threaded coconut on top.

If smoothies aren’t your thing, they also make great coffee and more interestingly, a Classic Valrhona House Hot Chocolate, which comes with a small jug of pouring chocolate and on the side, chocolate marshmallows – yummy!

Food aside, service was friendly and welcoming and brownie points to our waiter who remained cool, calm and collected throughout, considering Rosie was full to the brim! Will definitely be back to try their dinner menu!

Yesss Rosie is so good. I’ve only been there once but it was delicious.
Aw cool! What did you order?
The pikelets!
Ashamed to say I’m late onto that bandwagon too, still haven’t been! But it looks so good, definitely making my way there soon.
Hope you enjoy it! 😀
